1.
Andrė wrote her first compositions back in 1997, when she was only
eleven. These are simple pieces with a classic modal structure. The
Piece #4 is a typical example.
2. During the following two years her style becomes more Romantic. We could illustrate this with a short pieces
"For My Mother" and
"Misty Lake".
3. The major changes in Andrė's style did occur when she was at 8
th and 9
th
grades. N. Galiamova, her composition teacher, inadvertedly asked her
once if she ever has heard any "contemporary music". Andrė, coming
home, became so exasperate that she wrote the main themes of
"Two Pieces of White" (including
"Snowflakes" and
"Lily" (
autograph also available) through that very night.
Of course, we regard this legend with some reservation. Such a
tumultous upheaval could only occur when the changes are already ripe
within a creative personality, although yet dormant. Maybe this was
simply a perfect timing from N. Galiamova's part?..
4. The new kind of composing apparently fit for Andrė well. She wrote
"Choral Pieces",
"2 Cello Miniatures",
"Sonata in Lithuanian Style", a short
Piece for Cello and Piano, etc.
5. Andrė enters 10
th grade. Her musical thinking becomes more complicated. There are many excellent pieces from this period, from
"Sutartinės" for piano to
"Piece for flute and piano",
Trio for Winds "Fable", and
vocal cycle for voice and piano.
6. In Spring 2004 Andrė completed the advanced
String Quartet. As yet, it has been never performed. Some influence of early Shostakovich may be noticed.

7. In Spring 2005 Andrė, among other works, wrote a charming little
piano piece to play as her graduation work.
