Andrė's Works

Andrė does not confine herself to any single kind of art. She readily transcends conventional boundaries between various modes of creativity set solely for the ease of ordinary humans. Nevertheless, we split and classify this continuum of new realities into various "arts" and "sciences". Andrė's creativity mainly manifests itself in the domains of:

academic composition;
jazz composition;
interpretation of academic piano works.

Andre Pabarciute --- academic composer

1. Andrė wrote her first compositions back in 1997, when she was only eleven. These are simple pieces with a classic modal structure. The Piece #4 is a typical example.

2. During the following two years her style becomes more Romantic. We could illustrate this with a short pieces "For My Mother" and "Misty Lake".

3. The major changes in Andrė's style did occur when she was at 8th and 9th grades. N. Galiamova, her composition teacher, inadvertedly asked her once if she ever has heard any "contemporary music". Andrė, coming home, became so exasperate that she wrote the main themes of "Two Pieces of White" (including "Snowflakes" and "Lily" (autograph also available) through that very night.

Of course, we regard this legend with some reservation. Such a tumultous upheaval could only occur when the changes are already ripe within a creative personality, although yet dormant. Maybe this was simply a perfect timing from N. Galiamova's part?..

4. The new kind of composing apparently fit for Andrė well. She wrote "Choral Pieces", "2 Cello Miniatures", "Sonata in Lithuanian Style", a short Piece for Cello and Piano, etc.

5. Andrė enters 10th grade. Her musical thinking becomes more complicated. There are many excellent pieces from this period, from "Sutartinės" for piano to "Piece for flute and piano", Trio for Winds "Fable", and vocal cycle for voice and piano.

6. In Spring 2004 Andrė completed the advanced String Quartet.As yet, it has been never performed. Some influence of early Shostakovich may be noticed.

04.05.11.: Yes, they have made it! See impressions here!

7. In Spring 2005 Andrė, among other works, wrote a charming little piano piece to play as her graduation work.
